When Boohoo reached out to me to take part in their Dress of the Month campaign I was so excited! If it isn’t already extremely obvious haha, Boohoo is my absolute favourite clothing brand and has been for years now. I’ve featured their pieces in several of my previous blog posts.
The idea behind this campaign is to “try something different” and style a dress from Boohoo in your own personal way. Potentially this could mean stepping out of your “comfort zone” as you don’t get to pick the dress… it’s all a surprise 👀 I’m no stranger to a shift dress or mesh but this dress is quite unconventional.
So I paired this star mesh shift dress with a simple black pencil skirt to add some length and layers. Ordinarily it’s a pretty short t-shirt dress (I’m about 5ft 3 or 4 and this dress comes well above my knee in a size 8). I also really love how unique the sleeves are! Can we call them “bell sleeves”? They add so much edge to the outfit. Boohoo has a wide variety of dresses available online, check them out here.
Honestly I probably wouldn’t have chosen this dress for myself or envisaged myself looking nice in it. But I really enjoyed stretching my creativity to style it and make it work for me. It just goes to show that firstly, your style-scope is always much wider than you think it is. And secondly, wearing black looks very flattering on pretty much everyone, especially in this season 😍🍁🍂. In the wardrobe department we tend to limit ourselves based on comfortability, conforming to “the norm” and hiding behind familiarity. But this autumn, I challenge you to try something different. There are no set rules to style, do you!
How would you have styled this dress and what are your favourite things to wear in autumn? Let me know in the comments down below 😘
God bless you!
Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will. – Romans 12:2
